Scholarship Selection Criteria

If you want to apply for a Master or PhD program, here are the minimum requirements:

  • First Requirement:

You must have completed your undergraduate degree with at least a 3.00 out of 4.00 CGPA (or its equivalent).

  • Second Requirement (Alternative):

If your undergraduate CGPA is between 2.75 and 2.99 (out of 4.00), you can still apply if you also have:

    • An ALES score of 65 or higher (this applies to Turkish students only),
      OR

    • A minimum CGPA of 3.50 out of 4.00 in your Master’s program.

Selection & Ranking

Each department will carefully review all applicants. Selection is not only based on CGPA – the department will also use its own assessment criteria to rank candidates.
Based on this ranking, the department may offer up to:

    • One 100% tuition scholarship, and

    • One 50% tuition scholarship
      Also, international students and Turkish nationals may be ranked separately.

Scholarship Announcement & Registration

The names of students who have been awarded a scholarship will be announced according to the Scholarship Calendar. If you are shortlisted, you must complete your registration before the deadline given – usually by the end of working hours on that date.

Late Registration Due to Special Circumstances

If you cannot complete your registration by the deadline because of important reasons (for example: visa delays, travel issues), you can submit a request to your academic department and the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research before the deadline. If they accept your petition, they will give you an extension so you have more time to register.

Scholarship Conditions

Here are some important things you need to know about the scholarship terms:

✅ Scholarship covers tuition fees only.
❌ Other expenses like registration, books, and student services must be paid separately.
✅ Scholarship period:
→ 3 semesters for non-thesis Master’s
→ 4 semesters for thesis Master’s
→ 10 semesters for PhD
❌ Scholarships do not cover frozen semesters or failed courses.
❌ If you switch programs, the scholarship will not transfer.

Note: To keep your scholarship going, you must maintain a CGPA of 3.00 each term.
