The Expatrio Scholarship 2025
The Expatrio Scholarship is a financial aid program designed to support international students planning to commence their studies in Germany during the Winter Semester of 2025. Organized by Expatrio, a platform assisting students with visa-related services like Blocked Accounts and Health Insurance, the scholarship aims to ease the financial burden of studying abroad.
Expatrio provides an all-in-one solution for individuals planning to study, work, or live in Germany. Their services are tailored to meet the requirements of German visa applications and include:
- Blocked Account (Sperrkonto): A mandatory requirement for many visa applicants, this account demonstrates sufficient financial resources. Expatrio offers a fast, secure, and affordable way to open a Blocked Account online, accepted by all German authorities worldwide.
- Health Insurance: Expatrio partners with top German health insurance providers to offer both public and private health insurance plans suitable for visa applications and stay in Germany.
- Expatrio Bank Account: A free German bank account automatically connected to your Blocked Account, facilitating easy access to funds upon arrival in Germany.

How does the Expatrio Scholarship work? It’s easy!
This scholarship is very easy to apply for. All you need to do is submit a short video—maximum 2 minutes—through the Expatrio application form. In the video, you must answer one simple question: How will your studies in Germany help you make a positive impact on others?
Show your passion! This scholarship is open to everyone, and all applicants have an equal chance of winning, no matter the video quality or editing skills. You can even record your video in your native language. Just make sure to add English or German subtitles, so everyone can understand your message.
There are 10 different prizes available. The first-place winner will get a huge prize of €15,000, second place will receive €12,000, and third place will get €9,000. There are also prizes for the 4th to 10th place winners. Winners from 4th to 10th place will receive exciting prizes such as six months of free rent, a brand new laptop, German language classes, and coverage of their semester contribution fees. Winners will receive their prize money after they activate their Blocked Account and Health Insurance with Expatrio.
Please note: You cannot use this scholarship money to fund your Blocked Account. The prize will only be given after you arrive in Germany.
Who is Eligible?
This scholarship is open to international students from non-EU/EEA countries. To apply, students must have an offer letter from a public university in Germany. It is important that the applicant is either already enrolled or has been accepted at a recognized German university. A strong academic background is also required, which means students need to provide documents like transcripts or certificates to prove their past academic performance.
Students can apply for the scholarship and even get nominated before traveling to Germany. However, the scholarship money will only be given after the student arrives in Germany. Therefore, having a valid student visa or residence permit for Germany is necessary to receive the award.

Then, choose your video file, upload it through the form, and submit your application. Make sure to double-check that you are using the correct email, as it needs to match the one linked to your Value Package application.
